DONATE TO HELP SAVE THE HISTORIC CHESNUT HOUSE
Located on Sexton's Creek near the Old Joe Clark Cabin is another historic home steeped in history. This grand white house is at the mouth of Ell's Branch. The stunning mansion, built in 1860, was one of the most spectacular homes during its day. Join the effort to save this historic structure and create a tourist attraction in Clay County, Kentucky.
Kevin Cleary, of Burning Springs, has purchased the home to save and restore it to its former glory. Once restored, the home will be turned over to a nonprofit foundation for use as a community building, tourist attraction and artists retreat.
The first floor will be open to the public for meetings, recitals, concerts, weddings and community plays. The second floor will house three suites available for rental. The third floor will offer space for Kentucky artists to stay for free, for weeks or months, to draw, paint or just relax.
